MUA Luxe velvet lip lacquers in Tranquillity, Dash and Unity

MUA Luxe velvet lip lacquers in Tranquillity, Dash and Unity

I'm going through a bit of a liquid lipstick kick lately, like everyone else in the makeup wearing world, so I picked up these 3 to try. They are £3 each from Superdrug or the MUA website.
Tranquillity is a pale brown/peachy toned nude, sort of colour I'm never sure suits me but I've been drawn to the last few years. Dash is a reddish-brown sort of marsala colour which I know is more likely to suit me as I love those shades and weare them all the time. Unity is a grey-ish lavender-ish colour, quite hard to describe but I love it. I've been really into these sort of cool-toned, almost corpse-y colours lately. The definitely don't suit me but I really like them. Feel vaguely industrial or something, very much don't mess with me shades.

I've worn Tranquillity to work twice now, first time over Cappuccino lip liner by Rimmel, which is a lot darker and cool toned. They actually matched really nicely, looked a bit like the 90's had thrown up on me but I often look like that so it wasn't a problem. Second time was over Chocolate lip liner pencil by Collection, a bit warmer toned and not as dark but still complimented the lipstick very nicely.

I've worn Dash to work once so far over an old wine lip liner by Barry M. It's a little darker then Dash but similar in tone so they worked well together. Very easy colour to wear for day or night as its classic but could also be quite vampy.
These liquid lipsticks held up OK through work. They lasted pretty well through tea but couldn't withstand my usual cheesy soda bread at tea break, it is very greasy though so I didn't expect them to (I love lipstick, but I love my food more). They both respond well to being topped up with another lipstick after eating, no flaking or peeling off the lips. I find it works best if the lipstick used isn't too matte as that can cause drag. You want a little bit of slip so the colours blend.

I haven't worn Unity out yet. Its very much a statement lip and I haven't been to an event it would be suitable for recently. I drink red wine when I'm out so I tend to stick to dark lipsticks so it doesn't look strange as the night goes on. I have worn it in the house to check it out though and its amazing! I've tried it over periwinkle violet lip liner from Kiko, a cool toned violet colour, and over cappuccino by Rimmel and it looks great over both. Cappuccino definitely makes it more of a greigy colour while Periwinkle violet brings out the violet (surprise surprise).

Its lasting power is on a par with the other shades though it is more obvious when it starts to wear off. Not sure what lipstick I'd top this up with, leaning towards Taupe by Kiko or Mauve by Pure Colour at New Look. Both of those have similar cool, grey casts to them but they're a bit dark which isn't ideal so I'll be keeping an eye out for something suitable.

These are quite drying on the lips but that is to be expected with this type of product really. They can change slightly depending on the lip liner used which I like, I may have a go at mixing colours and see how that turns out. I'll keep you posted on that. All in all if you don't mind the drying sensation you get with liquid lipsticks these are definitely worth a go at a bargain price.
